Privacy Policy

Your data should never be a mystery.

This policy explains what Reusers.com Ltd collects, why we use it, when it may be shared and the choices available to you across the Reusers website, mobile app and marketplace services.

Last updated 12 October 2026

01

Who this policy applies to

Reusers.com Ltd (“Reusers”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is responsible for personal data processed through the Reusers service. This policy applies to visitors, account holders, marketplace participants and people who contact support.

02

Information we collect

  • Account and profile data: name, username, email address, phone number, profile photo, authentication identifiers and account status. If you sign in with Apple, Google or Facebook, that provider gives us your name, email address and, where available, profile photo.
  • Listings and marketplace data: item photos, descriptions, category, condition, price, location, availability, favourites, requests and transaction status.
  • AI auto-fill data: the listing photos you choose to auto-fill from and the draft title, description and specifications suggested to you (see Services we use).
  • Identity verification data: the result of an identity check, its reference and the dates it was made (see Identity verification below).
  • Communications: in-app messages, support requests, reports, reviews, dispute information and related attachments.
  • Device and technical data: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, device and installation identifiers, your device’s advertising identifier where your settings allow it, crash reports and notification token.
  • Usage and analytics data: screens viewed, the words you search for, feature interactions, the link, advert or campaign that brought you to Reusers, and approximate session activity.
  • Location data: state, local government area or other location you provide, and device location only where you grant permission for a feature that needs it.

We also receive information you choose to provide and information generated when we enforce our rules or protect the service.

03

Why we use information

  • create and secure accounts, verify access and provide requested features;
  • publish listings, support discovery, messaging and marketplace activity;
  • draft listing details from your photos when you tap Auto-fill with AI;
  • check the photos and text of published listings, with AI help and a person reviewing every result, and suggest clearer titles and descriptions;
  • send transactional, security, moderation and support communications;
  • prevent fraud, investigate reports and enforce our terms;
  • measure performance, understand feature use and improve Reusers;
  • measure which links and adverts bring people to Reusers and, where permitted, show Reusers adverts to people likely to be interested;
  • personalise content and, where permitted, send you marketing; and
  • meet legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or law-enforcement obligations.

Depending on the activity, we rely on performance of our agreement with you, consent, compliance with law, protection of vital interests or our legitimate interests in operating and safeguarding Reusers. Where the law requires consent, for example for identity verification, personalised recommendations, session recording, Apple’s tracking prompt and the Link and ad measurement switch, we ask for it first, and you can withdraw it as described in this policy.

04

Identity verification

When you choose to verify your identity, our provider Dojah checks your NIN or a government-issued ID against official records and takes a live selfie to confirm that the ID is yours. Because the selfie is compared with your ID photo, this involves biometric data, which the law treats as sensitive.

  • What Reusers keeps: the result of the check (for example, verified or failed), Dojah’s reference for it and the dates it was made. We do not keep your ID number, ID images or selfie in your Reusers account.
  • What Dojah processes: your ID details and selfie, as our service provider, to carry out the check, under its own retention rules and legal obligations.
  • Why: to show the Verified badge, prevent fraud and impersonation, and meet legal obligations. We rely on your consent, which you give by starting the check, and on our legitimate interest in keeping the marketplace safe.
  • Your choice: verification is optional, but features that require it stay unavailable until it is done. You may withdraw consent for future checks at any time.
05

Your choices in the app’s Settings

Three app features are controlled in Settings. Two are off until you turn them on. The third, Link and ad measurement, is on from the first launch on Android and runs on iPhone only if you allow tracking. You can turn any of them off there at any time:

  • Personalised recommendations: Reusers sends Algolia a pseudonymous account token and the items you view, save or open from search, but not your search words, name, email, phone number or precise location. Turning it off stops new events and requests deletion of the earlier history, which Algolia says can take up to 48 hours; inactive profiles are otherwise kept for up to 90 days.
  • Session recording: Microsoft Clarity records how screens appear and respond, such as taps, scrolls and screen names, while you are signed in, to help us find and fix problems. Recording pauses on sign-in, messages, identity verification, wallet, profile editing and location screens, and text you type elsewhere is masked. Microsoft keeps recordings for about 30 days, and a recording we save to investigate a problem may be kept for up to 13 months. It is never used for advertising.
  • Link and ad measurement: AppsFlyer tells us which link, advert or campaign brought you to Reusers and opens shared links to the right item. It receives your device identifiers, including the advertising identifier where your settings allow it, your IP address and app-open events, but not your name, email address or what you do in the app. On iPhone it runs only if you allow tracking when iOS asks. On Android it is on from the first launch until you turn it off at Settings → Help improve Reusers → Link and ad measurement. Turning it off stops it straight away.
06

How information is shared

We do not sell your personal data. We may share only what is reasonably necessary with:

  • other members when you publish a profile or listing, communicate or take part in a transaction;
  • service providers that support cloud hosting, authentication, storage, content delivery, analytics, attribution, notifications, communications, AI features, security and support, and any payment or delivery feature made available. Section 07 names them and says what each one receives;
  • professional advisers and authorities where required to protect rights, investigate harm or comply with law; and
  • a successor organisation if Reusers is involved in a financing, reorganisation, merger or sale, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Service providers may process data only for the contracted purpose and under applicable safeguards.

07

Services we use

These companies process personal data on our behalf so that Reusers works. Each may use it only for the purpose we contract, under a contract and appropriate safeguards, except where this section says a company also acts for its own purposes.

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): hosts Reusers, including sign-in (Amazon Cognito), our database, photo and video storage, the app and website interface, and the emails and sign-in codes we send. Data is held in the European Union (Ireland) and the United States.
  • Google Firebase: Firebase Analytics records which screens you use, the words you search for, the link or campaign that brought you here and any errors, linked to your Reusers user ID, so we can understand and improve the app. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports linked to your user ID. Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers push notifications (through Apple’s push service on iPhone). Analytics and Crashlytics are always on in the app. Google may work out an approximate location from your IP address and, where your device settings allow it, may read your advertising identifier.
  • Google Gemini (AI auto-fill and listing checks): when you tap Auto-fill with AI while listing, we send the listing photos you chose, the category and the specification fields to Google’s Gemini model, which drafts a title, description and specifications for you to check. When a listing is published or updated, we also send its text (title, description, category, condition, brand, State and local government area, listing type and price, but never your name or contact details) to Gemini to write search-friendly copy. To keep listings safe and accurate, our team may also use Gemini to check the photos and text of published listings (for example for photos of people, contact details or a different item) and to suggest clearer titles and descriptions. A person on our team reviews every result before anything on your listing changes, and we normally let you know when we remove one of your photos. We use Google’s paid API, under which Google does not use your content to improve its models.
  • Meta Platforms (Facebook SDK): the app includes the Facebook SDK, which sends Meta app events such as installs, app opens and the screens you view, together with your device details and, where your settings allow it, your advertising identifier. Meta uses this to measure whether Facebook and Instagram adverts led you to Reusers and to help us show Reusers adverts to people likely to be interested. It runs from the first launch; on iPhone it receives the advertising identifier only if you allow tracking. Section 08 explains how to limit it. If you sign in with Facebook, Meta also acts as your sign-in provider under its own privacy policy.
  • AppsFlyer: install attribution and links, as described in section 05. We add the result (the source and campaign, never the identifier) to our Firebase Analytics events.
  • Dojah: identity verification, as described in section 04.
  • Algolia: powers search. Public listing content and the words you search for are sent to Algolia to return results, together with a pseudonymous token for your account. Personalised recommendations stay off until you turn them on (section 05).
  • Expo (Expo Application Services): delivers updates to the app’s code. When the app checks for an update it sends Expo the app version, platform, a random installation identifier and your IP address.
  • Apple, Google and Facebook sign-in: if you choose one of them to sign in, that provider confirms your identity to us, gives us your name, email address and, where available, profile photo, and knows that you use Reusers. Each acts under its own privacy policy.
  • Microsoft Clarity: session recording, only where the app offers it and you turn it on (section 05), and on the website only if you accept analytics cookies (section 14).
08

Advertising identifiers and Apple’s tracking prompt

Your phone has an advertising identifier (the IDFA on iPhone, the Advertising ID on Android). Meta, AppsFlyer and Firebase can read it where your settings allow it. Reusers shows no adverts inside the app; we use this data to measure our own advertising and to reach people likely to be interested in Reusers.

  • iPhone: the app asks once, with Apple’s prompt, whether Reusers may track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, the identifier is not available, AppsFlyer does not run and Meta receives events without it. Change your answer at any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Android: the identifier is available from the first launch. You can delete or reset it in your phone’s Settings → Google → Ads, and turn AppsFlyer off in the Reusers app (section 05). The Facebook SDK has no switch inside the app.

We rely on your consent where the law requires it, such as Apple’s tracking prompt and the Link and ad measurement switch, and otherwise on our legitimate interest in understanding and promoting Reusers.

09

International processing

Some providers process data outside Nigeria: Amazon Web Services in the European Union (Ireland) and the United States; Google (Firebase and Gemini), Meta, AppsFlyer, Expo and Microsoft in the United States and other countries where they operate; and Algolia in the European Union. Where personal data is transferred across borders, we use measures intended to provide a level of protection consistent with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, such as contractual safeguards and proportionate security controls.

10

Retention and deletion

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy. Retention varies by data type and may reflect account activity, dispute or fraud risk, backup cycles and legal obligations.

Deleting your account in the app: open your Profile tab, scroll to the bottom, tap Delete account, read the warning and confirm. This deletes your profile, listings, favourites and conversations, removes your sign-in (including every Reusers sign-in that uses the same email address) and asks Algolia to delete any personalised search history. If you used Sign in with Apple, also remove Reusers under Sign in with Apple in your iPhone settings.

Without the app: follow the steps on our Delete account page or email support@reusers.com with the subject “Account deletion request” from the email address on the account. We will check that the request comes from the account holder and complete it within 30 days.

What we keep after deletion: reports, dispute, appeal and account-action records that involve you, for as long as needed to resolve the matter, defend legal claims and meet legal obligations; and reviews you wrote about other members, which stay on their profiles under your username. Copies of photos and videos you uploaded, and the push-notification registration for your device, are not removed automatically; email us if you want them removed and we will do it within 30 days. Analytics, crash and attribution data already held by Google, Meta and AppsFlyer expire under their retention periods (Google keeps crash reports for 90 days), and Dojah keeps verification data under its own rules. We may retain limited records after deletion where required by law or reasonably necessary for security, dispute resolution or enforcement.

11

Security

We use administrative, technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data, including access controls and security monitoring. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your credentials, never share a verification code and contact us if you suspect unauthorised access.

12

Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law and appropriate identity checks, you may have the right to:

  • be informed about and access your personal data;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request deletion or restriction of processing;
  • object to certain processing or withdraw consent;
  • request data portability;
  • seek human review of qualifying automated decisions; and
  • complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Send a request to support@reusers.com. You can also learn about data-subject rights from the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

13

Children

Reusers is not designed for children to use independently. A person under 18 should use Reusers only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian. Contact us if you believe a child’s personal data has been provided without appropriate permission.

14

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Local storage and the software kits in our app work in a similar way. On the Reusers website we group them as follows:

  • Necessary (always on): keep sign-in to our staff tools secure, protect the site and remember your cookie choice. Your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage, and we ask again after 12 months.
  • Analytics (off until you accept): Google Analytics counts visits and records the pages you view, how you reached us (for example a search engine, link or campaign), your device and browser type and an approximate location worked out from your IP address; its cookies (_ga, _ga_*) last up to 13 months. Microsoft Clarity records clicks, scrolls, mouse movement and page layout to produce heatmaps and session replays, kept as described in section 05; its cookies (_clck, _clsk) last up to one year.
  • Marketing (off until you accept): Google Ads measures whether our adverts lead to visits or app downloads and may use your visit to show Reusers adverts on other sites. Its cookie (_gcl_au) lasts up to 90 days, and Google may also use cookies on its own domains. Because our Google Analytics and Google Ads accounts are linked, if you allow Analytics but not Marketing, Google may still receive a non-personalised visit signal that uses no advertising cookies.

Optional cookies load only on our public pages, and only after you choose Accept all or turn a category on in Cookie settings. Google’s tags follow your choice through Google Consent Mode. They never run on our admin tools, sign-in pages or identity-check result pages. Rejecting them does not change how the website works.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from Cookie settings at the bottom of every page or with the button below. Withdrawing removes the cookies we set and stops further collection; it does not affect what was collected before. Your browser may also let you block or delete cookies, although essential features may not work correctly without them. Optional features in the Reusers app are described in section 05 and controlled in the app’s Settings.

15

Refer & Earn

When you take part in Refer & Earn, which follows its own Refer & Earn terms:

  • What you see about people you invite: if someone joins with your code, you see their first name, last initial, profile photo, how many items they have listed and their referral status, never their email address, phone number or username. When you add someone’s code, we tell you first what they will see about you.
  • Bank details: to pay a reward we need your bank, account number and account name. We use them only to pay rewards and store them encrypted. Claim and payment records are kept for 6 years for financial record-keeping; if you delete your account, we remove your full account number.
  • Fraud prevention: we compare device and account signals between accounts, such as the app installation, email address, identity-check result and bank account, to stop one person running several accounts. We store them as one-way hashes and do not fingerprint your device. Automated checks can put a referral or claim on hold, but a member of staff reviews every claim, and you can reply in your Reusers Support chat.
  • Support conversations: messages with Reusers Support, including claims and payment receipts, are kept for 24 months after the last message.

We use this information to run the programme under its terms, and the fraud checks in our legitimate interest in keeping rewards fair.
